Chutka the right place for N-plant

Chutka still a strong spot for setting up nuclear power station.
1. Chutka is situated in Mandla distt, [MP], convenor of Chutka Jagrti Manch Jai Prakash Pandey [Narayanganj -Mandla ] has been regularly writing letters to media /newspapers for Chutka nuclear power plant.
2. The claim for opening Nuclear Power Station at proposed site of Chutka has not been ruled out so far by Atomic Energy Commission. The Secretary AEC responded positively during discussion about the proposed 2000 MW Nuclear Power Plant.
3. Plans to install Nuclear Power Plant in every state was approved two decades back on recommendations of Atomic Energy Commission in view of power crisis in the country. After survey at many places in 1983-85, village Chutka was termed as an ideal site for opening the Nuclear Power Plant.
4. The site is located in the catchment area of Mandla district's Narayangang tehsil. The site is situated at 457.31 mts above sea level and generation cost would also be minimum. As the site is surrounded by hills, it would also be suitable from the security point of view.
5. Chutka village was displaced due the Bargi dam on river Narmada and is located right next to reservoir of dam. The concept of a nuclear power station at Chutka is about 25 years old. For test purpose, the Narmada water was taken to Mumbai in 1983-84. In 1983 Atomic Energy Commission carried out an extensive survey for the locations to establish indigenously designed nuclear power plants.
6. For construction of nuclear power plant, the necessary requirements are a less populated area, suitable from environmental and defence points of view, foundation of the plant, displacement of the existing population from the proposed site, availability of water, cement, steel and labour. Uranium and Thorium are brought from outside. Apart from these suitability of nuclear waste and effluents are also examined.
7. Survey and Investigation by MPSEB examined four locations and proposal for the location at CHUTKA was finalised. It appears that in the absence of any powerful lobby to back this proposal, it has been thrown into the waste bin.
We appeal for setting -up of Atomic Power Station at CHUTKA village in Mandla district.
